Does movie Veer lies on unique concept?


More than hundreds of films are releasing every year in Bollywood, and so many movies are countered by copyright violation battle because of not containing a unique concept. The latest film blamed for copyright infringement is Veer,

A Gurgaon based Author Pavan Choudhary known as wisdom guru has filed a lawsuit against the film, alleging that some concepts that India should not be a 'Sone Ki Chidiya' but 'Baaj' (hawk) has almost been identically copied and adapted from his book Success Sutras for the 21st Century: A Trilogy of Wisdom (Chanakya's Political Wisdom, Confucius Social Wisdom & Kabir's Spiritual Wisdom) for their commercial gains .

According to petition filed by plaintiff that he had earlier sent a legal notice to the film’s makers not to use his concept, but they went ahead with the release. Author has sought damages of Rs.20 lakh (Rs.2 million) from the producer and director of the film Anil Sharma for alleged violation of copyright. And also pleaded for court stay the screening of the film.

The Delhi High Court Monday 25 Jan,2010 issued notices to production house Eros International Pvt Ltd and actor Salman Khan( script writer and hero of film ) ,director Anil Sharma, and producer Vijay Kumar Galani on a complaint of copyright violation in the just-released Hindi epic film “Veer, which was released on Friday. Justice V. K. Shali of Delhi High Court has asked respondents to file replies on the allegation leveled by author Pavan Choudary by 4 Feb, 2010.
