Chinese and Taiwan negotiators signed an agreement on IPR Protection.

An agreement has been signed between the mainland China -based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) and the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) which are the authorized to handle cross-Strait issues .This agreement will increase exchange and cooperation which will help in boosting up of protection of patents, trademarks, copyright and plant variety rights (PVR),

The Agreement Aim is:

1. To establish a mechanism to fight the problems of online piracy, patent imitation and preemptive trademark registration.

2. To protect the priority rights of applicants on the first filing application date of patents, trademarks and plant variety rights

3. To set up a copyright verification system to boost cross-Strait copyright trade in near future

4. To coordinate enforcement to protect well-known trademarks and crack down on piracy and false labeling of agricultural products, among other issues.
