Ministry of Agriculture( Department of Agriculture ) has issued a Gazette notification on 2nd December, 2010, exercising of the power conferred by sub-section (20 of section 29 read with section 14 of the PPV & FR Act,2001.

The central Government notified following crops ( 7 vegetable , 2 flower, and 1 fruit ) with their genera and species ( not being extant varieties and farmer's varieties) eligible for registration under the said Act.

1. Potato

2.Garlic

3.Onion

4.Tomato

5.Brinjal

6.Cabbage

7.cauliflower

8.Lady's finger

9.Rose

10.Chrysanthemum

11.Mango

This notification has a different meaning for category of the above crops eligible for registration under the said act. as every time notification allow registration for extant variety and new simultaneously but this time notification is allowing the new variety only.
