An Year has been passed away since the first batch of students from PGD-IPTMA (Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property and Technology Management) at NAARM (National Academy of Agricultural Research and Management celebrated the day with zeal and confidence to make their careers in the most challenging and dynamic field of “Intellectual Property Rights”. This day is celebrated by WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) every year on 26th April to raise awareness of IP among the people.
I was also one of the students seeking my path of success in this ever-changing and evergreen field of IP through the way suggested by the newly designed course which was a blend of practical and theoretical knowledge. The course covered all the vast knowledge of IP and Technology management in a really short duration of time which was only one year (Jan 2009-Jan 2010). In the hope of gaining success we worked really hard but at the same time enjoyed whole through the year and World IP Day reminds me of those unforgettable days spent at NAARM. I got an opportunity to learn at Monsanto Research Centre, Bangalore for a duration of about three months (Nov 2009 to Jan 2009) on a project related to Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Right Act, 2001(PPV&FRA, 2001). This not only gave me a better understanding and confidence in the subject but also an experience of corporate work culture. Presently, I am an employee of a yet another esteemed organization - the NSL Group (Nuziveedu Seeds Private Limited, Hyderabad). Gaining a position of Senior Officer – Intellectual Property Rights, is a achievement not only for me but also for the organization (NAARM), and for the most responsible person the Course Director of PGD- IPTMA, Mrs. R. Kalpana Sastry who made me capable of holding such a responsible position. The World IP Day celebration holds a true meaning for me today and for all those who are earning their bread and butter working in this field.
Happy World IP Day!!!!
